Why lab accreditation isn’t a formality

NABL (National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories) accredits Indian labs to a consistent technical standard. Because NABL operates under the ILAC mutual recognition arrangement, reports from NABL-accredited labs are recognised by accreditation bodies internationally — meaning your test data doesn’t need to be redone for markets outside India, and regulators trust it isn’t self-graded.

Common questions about product testing

How long does testing typically take?

It varies significantly by test type and lab queue — a straightforward electrical safety test can turn around in days, while comprehensive EMC or medical device testing can take several weeks. We build realistic testing time into your overall certification timeline upfront rather than estimating optimistically.

Can I reuse a test report from my home country?

Sometimes, partially — if the report is from an ILAC-recognised accredited lab and the test parameters match what an Indian regulator requires, it can support your filing. In most cases though, India-specific parameters (like local voltage/frequency) mean at least some retesting is needed.

Do you test in-house or send samples externally?

We coordinate testing through independent NABL/ILAC-accredited third-party laboratories rather than running an in-house lab — this keeps every result credible and non-conflicted in the eyes of regulators.

If I change my product design, do I need to retest?

It depends on what changed. A cosmetic change usually doesn’t require retesting, but anything affecting electrical components, materials, or radio parameters typically does — since the original report no longer reflects what’s actually being sold.

Can testing for multiple certifications run in parallel?

Yes, and we usually recommend it — a product needing both electrical safety and EMC testing, for example, can have samples at two labs simultaneously rather than waiting for one to finish before starting the next.
