CPCB Portal Update

EPR has moved to the Common EPR Portal

From the notices on CPCB’s EPR portals.

Single sign-on for every EPR portal epr.cpcb.gov.in

CPCB’s Common EPR Portal now provides single sign-on to all its EPR portals: e-waste, plastic, battery, tyre and used oil.

Plastic data migrated From 28 June 2026

The old plastic EPR portal was discontinued from 28 June 2026 and its data migrated to the Common EPR Portal. Registered units must verify their migrated data and report any mismatch.

FY 2025-26 annual returns on hold Schedule awaited

Annual return filing for FY 2025-26 is currently unavailable on the Common EPR Portal; CPCB has said a revised schedule and extended lapse period will be announced when the module launches. We track it for you.

Tickets, not emails CPCB ticket module

Unresolved portal issues must now be raised through CPCB’s ticket module, and stakeholder meetings run daily on weekdays.

Avoid Penalties

Common EPR mistakes

Selling Before Registration

Unregistered producers can face environmental compensation and can’t legally place products on the market.

Wrong Base Data

Targets are calculated from sales or import data. Errors carry into every year’s obligation.

Buying Certificates Late

Certificate prices and availability tighten near deadlines. Plan through the year.

Missing Returns

Late or missing returns can bring compensation and suspension of portal access.

Treating It as E-waste

Battery EPR needs its own registration even if the device has e-waste EPR.

No QR on Pack

Since 2025 the registration number must be on the battery, equipment and packaging.

One Product, Several EPRs

Other EPR obligations you may have

A battery-powered device in plastic packaging can need e-waste, battery and plastic EPR at once.

E-Waste EPR

Electronics and electrical equipment under the E-Waste (Management) Rules, 2022. See E-Waste EPR.

Plastic Waste EPR

Plastic packaging: PIBO registration, targets and recycled content. See Plastic Waste EPR.

Tyre Waste EPR

New tyre manufacturers, importers and waste tyre importers. See Tyre Waste EPR.

Used Oil EPR

Base and lubricating oil producers, importers and recyclers. See Used Oil EPR.

Quick Answers

Common questions about battery waste EPR registration

Producers who manufacture, import or sell batteries, or equipment containing batteries, under their own brand must register with CPCB under the Battery Waste Management Rules, 2022. Refurbishers and recyclers register to generate certificates.
Portable, automotive, industrial and electric vehicle batteries, regardless of chemistry, shape, volume or use.
The Battery Waste Management Amendment Rules, 2025 (24 February 2025) require a barcode or QR code showing the producer's EPR registration number on batteries, equipment containing them and their packaging, exempt low-cadmium and low-lead batteries from symbol marking, and set up centralised online reporting with a quarterly list of registered producers.
Yes. A device with a battery needs e-waste EPR for the equipment and battery EPR for the battery, each with its own registration, targets and returns.
Annual returns are normally due by 30 June. For FY 2025-26, filing on CPCB's Common EPR Portal is on hold until the new module launches.
Yes. The rules require a minimum share of domestically recycled materials in new batteries, phased in from FY 2027-28 and increasing over time.
