FCC Certification

FCC certification for Indian electronics going to the US.

Wireless products need an FCC ID through a Telecommunication Certification Body; most other digital devices need a Supplier’s Declaration of Conformity. We plan the tests at FCC-recognised labs, prepare the technical file and labels, and coordinate the grant or declaration.

FCC Explained

What FCC certification covers

Radio Emissions

Limits on intentional and unintentional radio-frequency emissions to prevent interference.

Two Routes

Certification with an FCC ID for radio devices, SDoC for most other digital devices.

Labelling

FCC ID or compliance statements on the product, packaging or e-label, plus user manual statements.

Common mistakes

Untested Radio Changes

Changing antennas or firmware power settings can invalidate the grant.

Missing US Party

SDoC products need a responsible party in the United States.

Wrong Lab

Reports from labs not recognised for the rule part aren’t accepted.

No Safety Listing

Retailers often also require UL or another NRTL safety listing.

Quick Answers

Common questions about FCC certification

FCC certification is the US Federal Communications Commission's equipment authorisation for electronic and radio-frequency devices, under Title 47 of the Code of Federal Regulations. Most electronics need it before they can be marketed or imported into the United States.
Devices that intentionally transmit radio signals, such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or cellular products, need Certification: testing at an FCC-recognised lab and a grant from a Telecommunication Certification Body, which issues an FCC ID. Most digital devices without radios use the Supplier's Declaration of Conformity, where a US-based responsible party declares compliance based on testing.
Yes, if the lab is accredited and recognised by the FCC for the relevant rule parts. Since 2025 the FCC bars recognition of labs and TCBs owned or controlled by entities from listed foreign adversary countries, regardless of location, so check your lab's recognition.
For SDoC, the responsible party must be located in the United States. For FCC ID certification, applicants also designate a US agent for service of process.
No. FCC covers radio-frequency emissions and spectrum use. Electrical safety in the US is usually shown through NRTL listing such as UL, and many retailers require it.
Typically two to six weeks including testing and the TCB review, depending on the number of radios and test readiness.
